uhuruPresident Uhuru Kenyatta is said to have been upset after the Jamhuri day fete at Kasarani stadium was ill attended.

The head of state addressed an empty stadium during the national holiday, something never seen in the past.

Sources say that he (Uhuru) had a sit down with Jubilee MPs who he lashed out at for not mobilizing the people.

But the legislators instead put the blame on Interior Affairs Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho. They said that he should have made sure that citizens turned up in their numbers.

Also to blame might have been Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko and his deputy Polycarp Igathe who are also said to have taken part in the planning. They also shifted blame to the provincial administration.

Coming to the Interior Ministry’s rescue was its spokesperson, Mwenda Njoka.

He told the Nation: ”Offices of the regional and county commissioners are usually responsible for organising State events in their areas of jurisdiction.”

But it is not only in Nairobi where the people gave the event a wide berth, in Mombasa for instance politicians, leaders and the residents did not show up for the event.

The empty seats which on November 28 during the inauguration ceremony were occupied, could mean an uninspired people who have lost hope in its political class.
