The National Super Alliance (NASA) is not interested in brokering a power sharing deal with the Jubilee Government, People’s Assembly steering committee member, David Ndii said.

”NASA is not interested in boardroom deals which have not delivered for Kenyans like the 2007 power sharing agreement. We don’t recognize this illegitimate government and we will not give it legitimacy,” Ndii said.

Speaking at the Okoa Kenya offices on Thursday, Ndii insisted that the opposition was not interested in cabinet slots in Uhuru’s government.

He maintained that the swearing in of Raila Odinga was well on course and they were not using the highly anticipated ceremony as a way to strong-arm the government into dialoguing with them.

”The swearing in is a reclamation of NASA’s win in the August 8 election,” he added.

The People’s Assembly convention will be in Machakos on Friday, he said, in order to engage on need to share power and co-exist peacefully.

”Our nation is deeply divided between two irreconcilable political values namely authoritarian rule and democracy. They (Jubilee) have in fact stated that a benevolent dictatorship is better than a democracy. The way out for the country is to embark on an urgent, honest and far reaching conversation sooner rather than later.”

Odinga will be sworn in on January 30 amid disquiet in Wiper where some members argued that their leader, Kalonzo Musyoka should be responsible for bringing Uhuru and Raila to the discussion table.

While others feel that he (Kalonzo) should take oath of office alongside Odinga so as to inherit Odinga’s Luo, Nyanza support base.
