Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat led senior police officers in mourning the late Director Inspection at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Tom Omani Nyasinga.

Omani was at the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

He was laid to rest at his home in Bogwendo Village, Nyamira County on Friday March 21. Omani died on February 28, 2025 after a long and brave battle with Parkinson Disease (PD).

He was celebrated as a cool, calm and well-collected husband, father, brother, friend and top commander, who maintained high standards of discipline in the 34 years he served in the National Police Service.

Lagat described Omani as a gentleman who was dedicated to his work.

Omani’s memories shall live on in the hearts of the many he touched. He extended his selflessness beyond his children and family to his friends and colleagues at work. His kindness and contagious compassion for others will forever illuminate their hearts.

Lagat who represented the top command of the National Police Service at the funeral, remembered him as a dedicated and committed officer whose service in the country was greatly admired.

“We have no words to describe him further. He was simply a good man,” he said.

The Director DCI, Mohamed Amin also eulogised the fallen senior detective as a hardworking and self-driven officer, who performed his duties diligently and inspired many that he interacted with.

Other senior officers present included Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati and commandant National Police Service Kiganjo Campus Munga Nyale.
