Newly sworn-in Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku Sunday called on Kenyans to rally behind President William Ruto and his deputy, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, in a bid to foster development and national progress.

Speaking during an Easter Sunday service and the ordination of Pastor Anderson Mwiathi at Ítúgúrúrú Baptist Church in Chuka Igambang’ombe, Tharaka Nithi County, in his first public address since assuming office, CS Ruku urged residents to support the Kenya Kwanza government, highlighting its achievements and commitment to transforming the country.

“The country was in bad shape when President Ruto took over. But today, projects that had stalled are now back on track. The President and his deputy are working tirelessly to ensure that every part of the country benefits from development,” Ruku said.

He cited the ongoing Ítúgúrúrú-Mate Road, among other projects in Chuka Igambang’ombe, as a testament to the government’s commitment.

He emphasized that such initiatives require unity, support, and patience.

“These are not easy tasks, but with a shared sense of purpose and prayers from the Church, we can achieve more,” he added.

Ruku reassured the public that his ministry would work closely with all government departments to implement practical, timely, and citizen-centered reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery.

“We will ensure that the government serves the people effectively and efficiently. I will personally take charge of ensuring that our systems work,” he vowed.

He pointed to developments in Chuka Igambang’ombe, such as the fully funded Natasha Makena Hospital, as examples of the government’s responsiveness to public needs.
Ruku also encouraged the electorate to grant President Ruto a second term in 2027, arguing that a performing administration deserves a chance to complete its agenda.

“If a government is delivering, then it’s only fair for the people to vote it back so it can finish what it started,” he said.

He also cautioned residents against listening to political detractors, stating that some individuals seek only to discredit the government without offering viable alternatives. “Let us not be swayed by those who speak loudly but have nothing to offer,” he warned.

He affirmed his commitment to working with all elected leaders to ensure quality service delivery to the people.
“Our goal is to serve Kenyans. All ministries will collaborate under the leadership of the President to ensure seamless and timely delivery of services,” he stated.
Ruku further warned that civil servants who fail to deliver services as expected will be dealt with according to the law.
“The President is the number one civil servant, and he has tasked me with ensuring quality service delivery. It is the civil servants who must create an enabling environment for business and investment—whether local or international,” he said.

The CS also urged citizens to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that despite initial challenges, the system is now operational.
He warned that those who fail to register risk facing individual health challenges.

Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene praised President Ruto for appointing Ruku, stating that the CS is well-suited for the role. “Unlike some previous leaders, CS Ruku is approachable and easy to engage with, regardless of one’s status in society,” he said.

Munene added that the Mt. Kenya East region is solidly behind the Kenya Kwanza government, citing various ongoing development projects in the area.

Baptist Church Mt. Kenya Region Moderator, Albert Gitonga, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Church and the government. He noted that since the Church prays for leaders, it should also support them.

“People are free to critique, but not to criticize destructively. Don’t humiliate leaders in public—call them, have a meeting, and reason together if things are not going as expected,” Gitonga advised.
