Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced new job opportunities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for boda boda riders, gardeners, and construction helpers — with monthly salaries of up to Sh120,000.

In a statement shared on his official social media pages, CS Mutua said successful candidates will be hired to work for reputable companies in Dubai. The recruitment exercise will take place in Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale counties.

Applicants for boda boda rider and construction jobs must be under 38 years old, while those applying for gardener positions should be below 40 years. Boda boda riders will earn between Sh80,000 and Sh120,000 per month. Gardeners will take home between Sh31,000 and Sh45,000, while construction helpers will earn up to Sh35,000.

All workers will be entitled to medical insurance and accommodation. In addition, gardeners and construction workers will receive food allowances as part of their benefits package.

For boda boda riders, applicants must have a valid motorcycle or regular driving licence. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will be available on-site to assist qualified applicants with approvals. Candidates must also present a valid Kenyan passport or proof of a passport application.

Gardeners and construction workers are not required to present academic certificates. However, they must appear well-groomed and carry a valid passport or proof of application.

“Shabby, unclean, or poorly dressed individuals will not be considered,” CS Mutua warned. “Dress smart and professional – only closed shoes allowed. No sandals. Kutafuta kazi ni kazi. Jitume!”

The interviews will be conducted on May 27, 2025, at Karisa Maitha Stadium in Kilifi; on May 28, 2025, at Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa; and on May 29, 2025, at Diani Showgrounds in Kwale. The sessions will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each of the scheduled days.
