State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu confirmed their stepping aside and noted that  the head of state expected any other public officer implicated in the scam to also follow suit and step aside.

The President also expects any public official directly implicated in the investigations to uphold the code of integrity and ethics to which they are committed and to act accordingly @UKenyatta

He said that investigations were being carried out to find out whether the payments were done in line with the procedure and whether they were done for services rendered.

The two public officers were allegedly behind the companies that received tenders to supply NYS, hired close relatives without a clear job description. They authorized payments to fake debtors at the expense of real ones.
