Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) has clinched double honours at the 2025 North America Tea Conference, walking away with the prestigious Tea Sustainability Award and top spot in the Gold Medal Tea Competition, cementing its reputation as both a sustainability leader and producer of premium teas.

The Tea Sustainability Award recognized EPK’s Special Needs Education (SNE) Project, which has transformed learning environments for over 700 learners across seven schools in Nandi County. Through the initiative, the company has partnered with schools, parents, and government agencies to provide SNE-friendly classroom furniture, boarding facilities, teaching materials, and nutritional support — breaking barriers in inclusive education.

On the quality front, EPK’s Black CTC (BP1) from the Kepchomo Factory emerged as the global winner in the Gold Medal Tea Competition, a contest that showcases the finest teas from across the world based on quality and craftsmanship.

“These international awards are a testament to the dedication of our teams on the ground and the resilience of the communities we serve,” said EPK Director, Leah Kibii Chirchir. “They affirm our vision that sustainability and quality must go hand in hand — from the farm, to the community, and into every cup of tea enjoyed worldwide.”

EPK’s latest win adds to a growing list of accolades, including a 2024 award for What a Good Education Means, runner-up recognitions for environmental projects in 2019 and 2023, and a 2017 award for Supporting Smallholder Tea Farmers.

With its strong heritage in tea production and community empowerment, Eastern Produce Kenya continues to drive impact through sustainable practices while producing teas that meet the highest global standards.
