Dominik Óscar Gutiérrez, better known by his ring name Dominik Mysterio, is an American professional wrestler born on April 5, 1997, in San Diego, California.

As a third-generation wrestler, he carries forward the storied legacy of the Mysterio family, being the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and the great-nephew of the legendary Rey Misterio Sr.

Dominik has carved out his own path in the world of professional wrestling, blending high-flying athleticism with a cunning heel persona that has made him one of the most polarizing figures in WWE.

Signed to WWE’s Raw brand, he is currently a prominent member of the villainous stable The Judgment Day, where his alliances and betrayals have fueled some of the most compelling storylines in recent years.

    Siblings

Dominik has one sibling, his younger sister Aalyah Gutiérrez, who was born into the same wrestling-centric family environment that shaped his early years.

Aalyah, often seen supporting her father Rey during WWE events, has made occasional appearances in family storylines but has largely stayed out of the professional wrestling spotlight.

    Career

Mysterio’s wrestling journey began not in the ring but in the audience and storylines of WWE, where he first appeared at the tender age of six on the June 5, 2003, episode of SmackDown, cheering his father Rey to a Cruiserweight Championship victory over Matt Hardy.

His most memorable early involvement came in 2005 at age eight, during the iconic “Who’s Your Daddy?” feud between Rey and Eddie Guerrero, which culminated in a ladder match at SummerSlam for custody of Dominik—a storyline that blurred kayfabe lines and introduced him to global audiences as Guerrero claimed to be his biological father.

Though Rey prevailed, the angle left an indelible mark on young Dominik, who continued sporadic TV spots, including interfering in his father’s matches against foes like Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar in 2019.

It wasn’t until 2018 that Dominik seriously pursued wrestling, training under his father and Jay Lethal before making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2020 in a losing Street Fight against Seth Rollins, stepping in amid Rey’s feud with Rollins and Murphy.

This propelled him into active competition, leading to his first win the next month at Payback alongside Rey.

Drafted to SmackDown later that year, the father-son duo made history by capturing the SmackDown Tag Team Championship from Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at WrestleMania Backlash in May 2021—the first such title win for any father-son pair in WWE.

Their reign lasted 63 days before tensions arose, with Dominik feeling overshadowed by Rey’s alliances, particularly with Edge.

This frustration boiled over in 2022 when Dominik turned heel, betraying his father to join The Judgment Day stable alongside Edge’s former allies Finn Bálor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley.

The move ignited a bitter family rivalry, culminating in high-stakes matches at WrestleMania 39 and 40, where Dominik fell short against Rey despite intense interference from his new faction.

His heel run evolved into a solo singles push in NXT, where he feuded prominently and captured his first individual gold.

By 2023, Dominik had become “Dirty Dom,” a master of psychological warfare, taunting crowds with his arrogance and even incorporating a kayfabe arrest into his persona during the holidays.

Alliances shifted dramatically in 2024-2025, as he navigated internal Judgment Day drama, including a sensational double-cross of Ripley to align with Liv Morgan amid her Women’s World Championship pursuits, further cementing his status as WWE’s ultimate opportunist.

    Accolades

Mysterio’s first title came as one-half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions alongside Rey Mysterio in 2021, a historic reign that solidified their family legacy.

Transitioning to singles competition, he claimed the NXT North American Championship twice, first defeating Wes Lee on July 18, 2023, and reclaiming it from Trick Williams on October 3, 2023.

In a career-defining moment at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025, Dominik won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a Fatal 4-Way match, his first main roster singles title and a WrestleMania victory that silenced critics and boosted his stock exponentially.

Later that year, he expanded his reach internationally by capturing the AAA Mega Championship in September 2025 at Worlds Collide, defeating El Hijo del Vikingo to become the first wrestler to simultaneously hold WWE and AAA gold.

These accomplishments, coupled with his role in elevating The Judgment Day to multiple title holdings, earned him widespread recognition, including being named Bill Apter’s Wrestler of the Year for 2025.
