Two women were on Tuesday charged before a Shanzu court with violently robbing a British national at an apartment in Nyali, Mombasa County.

The accused, Samira Mumbi Kiarie and Diana Wanjiru Mwaura, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Antony Mwicigi pleaded not guilty to the charge.

They were charged with committing robbery with violence contrary to Section 296(2) of the Penal Code.

They are charged jointly with others not before the court, robbing Dharmindal Kumar of Sh415,000 on September 28, 2025, and using actual violence against him during the incident at Galaxy Apartment

The alleged robbery occurred at around 10 p.m. at Galaxy Apartments in Nyali Sub-county, Mombasa.

Principal Prosecution Counsel Anthony Musyoka, appearing for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), urged the court to impose strict bond terms on the two, expressing concern that they might abscond if released without stringent conditions.

Mwicigi directed that a pre-bail report be prepared to assist the court in determining suitable bond terms.

The matter will be mentioned on November 25, 2025.
Samira had been arrested after she and two other men staged a robbery against another British boyfriend, after luring him to her apartment for what was supposed to be a “dream date”.

She had been wooing the Briton for months on the net, charming him with promises of everlasting love.

Blinded by affection, the man packed his confidence and visited her posh apartment in Nyali, oblivious that he was walking into a scripted heist.

Barely minutes into the rendezvous the door burst open.
Two men stormed in, one claiming to be Samira’s furious husband; the other flashing a fake police ID.

The “husband” accused the Brit of wrecking his home, as the fake cop threatened arrest.

The terrified foreigner was then coerced into transferring a cool Sh800,000 to mobile phone numbers provided by the gang.

Once the cash landed, the trio calmly escorted their victim out before vanishing into Mombasa’s humid night like ghosts after payday.

But the honeymoon didn’t last. Acting on forensic intelligence, detectives launched a stealth pursuit, arresting Samira and one of her accomplices, Paul Webster Mangeni, aka Paulo.

Investigations have since established that the two are part of a notorious syndicate that lures foreigners through dating sites, sets them up in short stay rooms and robbing them of their hard-earned money.
