Two people Friday dawn shot and seriously wounded in a robbery incident in Kariokor area, Nairobi.
One of the victims was robbed of Sh120,000 in the attack, which happened at about 1 am.
Police said a gang of two had struck as a woman closed her shop in the area prompting her to scream for help.
A man who was standing there and was waiting to be served with food sprung into action in efforts to save the woman.
He was shot and injured in the hand and stomach. By then, the gang had grabbed a bag containing the cash and were ready to escape.
Another man who responded to the scene was also shot and wounded in the right hand by the same suspects.
Police said the suspects jumped onto a waiting motorcycle and escaped.
The two men were rushed to the hospital and admitted in a stable condition. Police said they are hunting for the gang behind the attack.
Police patrols have been intensified in the city and other parts of the country to contain crime ahead of the festive season.
And a man was shot and injured in a confrontation between forest rangers and suspected illegal charcoal burners in Kibrambu forest in Koibem, Nandi County.
A team of forest rangers was on patrol in the forest when they stumbled on the charcoal burners. This prompted a confrontation that led to the shooting of one the suspects in the stomach.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and admitted there in a stable condition, police said. Locals ganged up and set on fire three roomed house belonging to the rangers. The rangers managed to escape from the scene.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
In Masara, Suna, Migori County, police had to shoot to the air to rescue two suspects who were being attacked by a mob.
The two were accused of being serial thieves in the area.
They were taken to the hospital in a stable condition. Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects be surrendered to authorities for action.
