The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released the shortlist of candidates for the position of Director General.

This is after the interviews were done by the board on January 13 to 15, 2026.

In a document seen by Kahawa Tungu, the NTSA board confirmed that 15 candidates have been shortlisted for the top job. The candidates scored between 66.89 and 92.64 marks, with the highest score standing at 92.64.

Those shortlisted include Jacob Sisey, Nashon Kondiwa, Christopher Wanjau, Ngeso Jagongo, Sala Adan Abdi, James Mithanga, Duncan Kibongo, Beatrice Olwa and Christine Ogut. Others are Andrew Kiplagat, Mugambi M’nchebere, Wilson Tuigong, Badu Katelo, Julius Olayo and Rebecca Lomok.

The position fell vacant after the exit of George Njao, who served two terms as NTSA Director General and completed his tenure last year.

The new Director General will be responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to the Authority, including implementing its business plans and strategy, and overseeing planning, development and execution of programmes in the road transport sector.

The Director General will also work closely with government agencies and international partners to promote road safety and efficient transport services.

Other key duties include managing NTSA’s operations, finances and workforce, safeguarding its assets, building a positive workplace culture, and ensuring the Authority maintains a good public image.

The successful candidate will also be expected to manage risks, respond to changes in the operating environment, and ensure that board decisions are implemented effectively.
