Anti-Narcotics Unit detectives in Nakuru have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized bhang valued at about Sh11.6 million in a major operation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the officers, working with the Dog Unit, acted on intelligence and intercepted a silver Toyota Voxy, along the Kabarak–Nakuru Road.

While the driver escaped, the co-driver, identified as Dennis Mukungua, was arrested. A search of the vehicle found 12 green sacks and 12 bales of bhang weighing a total of 387 kilograms.

Mukungua, the vehicle and the recovered drugs were taken to the police station as investigations continue, ahead of his court appearance.

In a separate operation in Keiyo South, detectives working with Metkei Police Station officers stopped a Toyota Fielder in the Kapchorwa area of Kamwosor Location. The driver, Vincent Odhiambo, was arrested after seven bags of bhang were found in the car.

The DCI said both suspects will be charged in court, adding that the agency remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks through sustained and coordinated operations.
