Kenyan President William Ruto has announced new diplomatic appointments as part of the latest changes to the country’s foreign service, including the establishment of a new ambassadorial mission in Denmark.
In the nominations released on Friday, Ruto named Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelekenya as Kenya’s Ambassador to Copenhagen, marking the launch of a new diplomatic post approved by the Cabinet. The appointment has been forwarded to Kenya’s National Assembly for parliamentary vetting and approval.
The President also nominated three Deputy Ambassadors. Elias Bare Shill was appointed Deputy Ambassador to Mogadishu, Somalia, where he will serve under Ambassador Kubai Iringo, who presented his credentials to Somali authorities in early 2024 and continues his tenure into the 2025–2026 period.
In addition, Ambassador Dr Joseph Warui has been redeployed to Moscow, Russia, while Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Nur has been posted as Deputy Ambassador to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Nur will serve under Ambassador Isaac Njenga, Kenya’s envoy to Tanzania.
The appointments were made under Presidential Action No. IV of 2026, announced by Felix Koskei, Kenya’s Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the nominations represent fresh postings rather than replacements of existing envoys. With the new appointments, Kenya has expanded its diplomatic presence to 72 countries worldwide, reflecting Nairobi’s continued push to strengthen international relations and global engagement.
