Police in Migori County are investigating a robbery with violence in which an M-Pesa shop attendant was fatally shot at Osiri Junction Shopping Center in Nyatike Sub-County.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2026, at around 8:30 p.m. It is the latest such incident amid calls for action to address the trend.
The victim, Peter Onyango, a 30-year-old raised the alarm when two armed men stormed the shop brandishing an AK-47 assault rifle and demanding money.
The robbers fired three shots during the attack. Onyango was shot on the right side of the chest and rushed to Migori County Referral Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries en route.
Police officers recovered one spent 7.92 mm special cartridge and a yellow helmet believed to have been left behind by the assailants. The suspects escaped on a motorcycle without registration plates.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the robbers, while investigations into the incident continue. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere, police in Bungoma County are investigating a murder incident in which a man was fatally stabbed by his brother in Chepsoikei Village.
Police said the incident occurred on March 12, 2026.
Police visited the scene and found the deceased, Alex Ndiema, 40, lying with severe injuries on the left side of his chest.
Investigations revealed that Alex was attacked by his brother, who stabbed him on the left side of the chest, forehead, and left hand using a kitchen knife. The suspect remains at large.
The murder weapon was recovered at the scene, documented as evidence, and the body was taken to Kimilili Delight Morgue pending autopsy.
Police have launched investigations and are pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect.

A Parent said he had visited his siblings and learned from neighbors that his sister had lost her three-week-old child under unclear circumstances.
Police established that the deceased suffered fatal injuries following a fight between the infant’s uncle and aunt.
During the scuffle, the minor was reportedly struck by one of the parents, causing profuse nose bleeding and loss of consciousness. She was rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that all four adults allegedly colluded to conceal the circumstances leading to the child’s death.
Police have arrested and detained four suspects for interrogation and further action.
