The attackers overpowered watchmen and workers at the site, forcing them to lie down before demanding money in exchange for their release.

During the ordeal, the gang stole Sh400,000 in cash, with an additional Sh55,000 reportedly sent to them.

In the process, three Chinese nationals were assaulted and sustained injuries.

The injured victims were rushed to Migori Life Care Hospital, where they were treated and later discharged in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier in the day, Saturday, victim had withdrawn Sh70,000 from KCB Bank Siaya and placed the money in her handbag, which already contained an additional Sh30,000. She later visited an agrovet shop near White House Hotel in Siaya, where she purchased fertilizer.

While heading home and upon reaching the Sodhof River within Karapul Sub-location, a saloon car that had been trailing her overtook and blocked her vehicle. Three men alighted from the car and forcefully entered her vehicle.

The suspects ransacked the car and made away with a total of Sh100,000 in cash, 10 kilograms of fertilizer, a Tecno Pro mobile phone and a handbag containing assorted documents.
