Suryakumar Yadav, popularly known as SKY or Mr. 360, is an Indian international cricketer celebrated for his innovative and aggressive batting style that allows him to score runs in every direction of the field.
Born on 14 September 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to parents Ashok Kumar Yadav, a scientist and electrical engineer who worked at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and Swapna Yadav, a homemaker, he has ancestral roots in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
The family relocated to Mumbai for his father’s career, where Suryakumar grew up and developed his passion for cricket under the early guidance of his uncle before formal coaching.
A right-handed middle-order batsman who occasionally bowls right-arm medium or off-spin, he represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and has been a key figure for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
Siblings
Suryakumar has one sibling, his younger sister Dinal Yadav.
She has largely stayed away from the public spotlight while building a professional career in fashion and visual merchandising.
Dinal holds a Master’s degree in Fashion Business from Pearl Academy in Mumbai and has worked as a Visual Merchandising Planner or Executive with companies including The Estée Lauder Companies, along with experience at other retail and beauty brands.
She married Krishna Mohan, an engineer associated with Qualcomm, in a ceremony around November 2024.
Suryakumar has publicly shared warm moments with her, including during family festivals such as Raksha Bandhan and her wedding celebrations, describing her as a source of joy and support throughout his journey.

Career
Suryakumar’s made his List A debut for Mumbai in 2010 and first-class debut later that year in the Ranji Trophy.
A standout 2011-12 season saw him score heavily for the side.
In the IPL he first featured for Mumbai Indians, later played for Kolkata Knight Riders (including their 2014 title win), and returned to Mumbai Indians, contributing to their successes in 2019 and 2020.
Despite consistent domestic and franchise performances, international selection came relatively late.
He debuted in T20 Internationals in March 2021 at the age of 30, memorably hitting a six off the first ball he faced, and made his ODI debut later that year.
His unique 360-degree batting quickly established him as a T20 specialist.
He rose to the number one ranking in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings and became a mainstay in India’s white-ball sides.
After Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format, Suryakumar was appointed full-time T20I captain.
Under his leadership India maintained a strong record in bilateral series, and he captained the side to victory in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
He was also part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, notably taking a crucial catch in the final.
Accolades
Yadav’s achievements include consecutive ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023, along with selection in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year in those seasons.
He contributed to India’s triumphs in the 2024 and 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, captaining the latter campaign and becoming only the third Indian captain after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to lift the trophy.
In the IPL he has multiple title wins with Mumbai Indians and an earlier success with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Earlier recognition includes the MA Chidambaram Trophy for the Best Under-22 cricketer awarded by the BCCI.
His rapid accumulation of runs at a high strike rate, multiple T20I centuries, and consistent match-winning performances have cemented his reputation as one of the most dynamic limited-overs batters of his generation.
