The Selection Panel for the appointment of the chairperson and members of the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) Board has shortlisted candidates for the positions, narrowing down applicants to four for chairperson and 23 for board membership.

The panel had earlier invited applications from qualified individuals for nomination to the positions of Chairperson (one slot) and Members (three slots). The vacancies were advertised on February 24, 2026, with the application window closing on March 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (EAT).

In a notice issued on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, NACOSTI revealed that a total of 87 applications were received. However, 11 submissions were made after the deadline and were not considered, leaving 76 applications eligible for long-listing.

Of the valid applications, six were for the chairperson position, while 64 were for member positions. An additional six applicants did not indicate the positions they were applying for.

The four candidates shortlisted for the chairperson role are Vincent Agala Dudi Choka, Festus Murithi Meme, Gideon Howard Nzioka Nyamasy, and Vasey N. Mwaja. Their interviews are scheduled to take place on April 17, 2026.

Meanwhile, interviews for the 23 shortlisted candidates for board membership will be conducted between April 16 and April 21, 2026.

“Candidates should be at the venue at least thirty (30) minutes before their scheduled time,” the notice stated.
