Shannon Elizabeth has spoken out about her separation from husband Simon Borchert, revealing she feels “stronger” and “happier” following the split.
The American Pie star confirmed that the separation began months ago, clarifying the timeline after recently making headlines for joining the subscription platform OnlyFans.
“I’ve been separated since September of last year, and this has been a thoughtful, ongoing process — not something that happened in the past few days,” she said in an interview.
Elizabeth added that the most significant parts of the separation are already behind her, with only legal formalities remaining.
“The meaningful pieces are already behind me, and only the formalities remain,” she said.
The 52-year-old actress expressed optimism about the future, describing the period as the start of a new chapter in her life.
“I feel stronger, clearer, and happier than I have in a very long time,” she said.
Sources close to the actress described her as “freshly single,” adding that she is embracing a sense of freedom following the breakup.
Elizabeth married Borchert in 2021, six years after the two met. At the time, she had described him as her “soulmate,” noting that they shared similar values and outlook on life.
This marks her second divorce. She was previously married to fellow actor Joseph D. Reitman from 2002 to 2006.
