The deceased, identified as Samuel Kamau Ndegwa, a 44-year-old man, was found lying lifeless by the roadside at about 8:00 a.m. His body was unclothed and lying in a pool of blood, with visible severe head injuries and a swollen face.

Police suspect he was murdered by unknown assailants.

The body was moved to J.M Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the killing are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Ganze Sub-County, Kilifi County, launched investigations after a herdsman was found brutally murdered in a bush near Shuria Quarry.

According to police the incident was reported on April 19, 2026, at around 8:30 a.m.

The deceased was identified as Kelvin Chiriba Charo, a 49-year-old herder working in the Mayowe area. His cousin, Florence Mwangiri, reported that he had failed to return home on April 18 after taking cattle out to graze.

The animals later returned alone, causing destruction to crops along the way, prompting concern and a search.

His body was discovered the following morning in a bush near Shuria Quarry. Police said the victim had sustained multiple deep cuts to the head inflicted by a sharp object.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and no suspects have been identified so far.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed the scene, and the body was moved to Kilifi County Mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the murder are ongoing.

It is suspected she drowned as she crossed a wooden bridge in the area. The river was swollen following heavy rains experienced in the area.
