A 64-year-old man was stabbed and killed in an argument over a debt of Sh20 for mutura he was selling in California, Nairobi.
The assailant was stoned to death at the scene minutes later, police said.
Police said Elijah Kinyanjui was selling mutura in the area when a man came and grabbed the food valued at Sh20.
After he had finished eating the food, Kinyanjui sought payment for the same which angered the assailant.
This degenerated to a fight that saw the assailant pick a knife that Kinyanjui was using in his business and stabbed him in the chest, fatally.
The deceased was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
By then, a mob had attacked and killed the assailant at the scene of the crime, police said.
Both bodies were moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.
Elsewhere in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, police said they are investigating an incident where a member of the street family was found dead in a trench.
The cause of the death was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
The body was found near Kirichwa river, police said.
In Nalondo, Bungoma County, one Geoffrey Wekesa, 30 was found dead on a footpath.
police said the body had deep cuts in the head, mouth and private parts. The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said they are investigating murder in the incident but they are yet to establish the motive for the same.
Cases of murder have been on the rise in separate parts of the country amid efforts to address the same.
Police say they have solved some of the incidents so far.
