Police are investigating the drowning of a man whose body was found in a swimming pool of a hotel in Likoni, Mombasa County.
The body was found by technicians at the Talentos Beach Hotel who were carrying out inspections on April 26, 2026.
Police said the body was found at the bottom of the swimming pool long after the man had drowned.
The man was not immediately identified. The body with no visible injuries was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.
He is believed to have been a customer at the facility.
Elsewhere in Kaimosi, Nandi County, one Bramwel Musalia, 23 drowned in River Yala during a swimming expedition.
The deceased was in the company of his friends when he drowned on April 26, police and witnesses said.
Local divers managed to retrieve the body before it was moved to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
In Ruai area, Nairobi, the body of a man was found floating on Nairobi River. The body had been swept to the area, police who visited the scene said on Saturday. The body was not identified and was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.
Elsewhere, a drowning incident was reported in Kakamega County, where a young boy lost his life in a water accident in Mumias West Sub-County.
According to the police, the incident occurred on April 25, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m.
With the assistance of neighbours, the body was retrieved approximately 50 metres from the point where the drowning is believed to have occurred.
Officers later visited the scene, documented and processed it as part of the investigation.
The body was moved to St. Mary’s Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Drowning is emerging as one of the leading causes of deaths in the country. Most of the incidents have been linked to flooding in various places, police said adding up fo 140 people had died in similar cases in the past four months.
