A man was arrested after he clobbered his wife to death in a domestic fight in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu County.

The deceased’s body was found in her house long after she had been fatally attacked on May 2, police said.

She was identified as Joyce Nyawira and police said she had bruises on her left elbow.

She is believed to have been strangled by the husband who escaped the scene before resurfacing.

He was arrested and detained for grilling and possible arraignment for murder, police said.

The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise amid calls for parties to solve their differences amicably.

The incidents are pending under probe.

Elsewhere in Magarini, Kilifi County, an elderly woman was found dead at the river bank of river Galana after a suspected murder.

She was identified as Jumwa Kiringi, 94.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known. Police believe she was targeted for murder as it has been a norm in the area where the elderly are murdered for land.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

No arrest has been made but police said they were pursuing the Saturday incident.

In Makutano, Tharaka Nithi County, a man was found murdered and his body abandoned in a thicket.

Police said the body had multiple fractures on the skull and also had a piece of cloth tied around the neck.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations, police said adding no arrest had been made so far.

Meanwhile, eight cases of drowning were reported in the country on Saturday alone. The incidents were reported in Kiambu (2), Narok, Uasin Gishu, Mandera, Machakos, Kirinyaga and Embu Counties

Heavy rains have caused huge destruction at different places in the country and left more than 150 dead in the past four months.

Police say there are hundreds of people who have been displaced by the rains.

The meteorological department has warned the rains will continue in the coming days.
