Veteran actor Beau Starr, known for his roles in Goodfellas and the Halloween film series, has died at the age of 81.
His younger brother, actor Mike Starr, confirmed that he passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada.
Describing him as “very unique and special,” Mike Starr said his brother played a major role in his life, helping to raise him alongside their parents.
Tributes have also poured in from colleagues and friends. Christopher Serrone, who portrayed young Henry Hill alongside Starr in Goodfellas, shared an emotional message on social media, remembering him as a man who lived a “rich and meaningful life” as an actor, father and grandfather.
Born in New York City in 1944, Starr initially pursued a career in sports before transitioning into acting. He spent three seasons on the practice squad of the New York Jets and later played in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
He later moved into acting, making his stage debut in the 1980 production “The Set-Up” at the American Theater of Actors, before building a steady career in television and film throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Starr became widely recognized for his role as Lieutenant Harding Welsh in the television series Due South, earning praise for his commanding screen presence.
