    Siblings

Ryan’s brother Dylan Strome, the middle sibling, plays as a forward for the Washington Capitals in the NHL.

The youngest brother, Matthew Strome, was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017 and has played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Hershey Bears, where he notably scored the Calder Cup-clinching goal.

The three Strome brothers all played for the Toronto Marlboros in their youth and were often compared to hockey families like the Sutters and Staals due to their collective talent and potential.

Ryan, as the oldest, has spoken about staying in touch with Dylan and Matthew and offering guidance as they navigate professional hockey.

    Career

Strome excelled in junior hockey with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he put up impressive numbers, including a standout season with 106 points in 65 games.

He made his NHL debut with the Islanders in 2013 and spent several seasons with the organization before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2017.

A subsequent trade brought him to the New York Rangers in 2018, where he played key roles, including during playoff runs.

In 2022, Strome signed with the Anaheim Ducks, where he provided veteran leadership and consistent production, recording 41 points in each of three seasons.

He was traded to the Calgary Flames in March 2026.

Throughout his career, Strome has played over 800 NHL games and accumulated hundreds of points, establishing himself as a reliable centre with strong offensive instincts.

He has also represented Canada internationally, earning medals at junior world championships.

    Accolades

In the OHL, Strome was named Player of the Month for January 2011 and selected to the Second All-Star Team for the 2010-11 season.

He also participated in the CHL Top Prospects Game.

In the AHL, he was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2013-14.

While he has not yet captured major NHL individual awards or the Stanley Cup, Strome’s longevity, consistency, and contributions to multiple teams highlight his value as a player.
