    Ivan Barbashev is a Russian professional ice hockey forward playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Vegas Golden Knights.

    Born on December 14, 1995, in Moscow, Russia, he stands at 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 203 pounds.

    Known for his two-way play, physicality, and ability to contribute in all situations, Barbashev has established himself as a reliable middle-six forward and playoff performer.

    He was selected 33rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and has gone on to win two Stanley Cups.

    Ivan’s older brother, Sergei Barbashev, is a professional player who has competed in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), including stints with teams like Admiral Vladivostok.

    His younger brother, Maxim Barbashev, has pursued a hockey career in North America, playing in junior leagues such as the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats and later in other professional or developmental circuits.

    Career

    Barbashev began skating at age three in Russia before moving to North America in 2012 to play junior hockey with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

    He had strong performances there, including a 95-point season in 2014-15, which helped him get drafted.

    He turned professional with the Blues organization, splitting time between the NHL and American Hockey League (AHL) affiliates like the Chicago Wolves.

    He made his NHL debut in the 2016-17 season and gradually earned a larger role with the Blues.

    Barbashev played a key part in St. Louis’ 2019 Stanley Cup victory.

    In February 2023, he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, where he quickly contributed to another championship run in 2023.

    Over his NHL career, spanning more than 650 games, he has recorded around 149 goals and 202 assists.

    Accolades

    Barbashev’s major accolades include being a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 and the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023.

    In junior hockey, he earned recognition as part of the QMJHL All-Rookie Team in 2012-13.

    Internationally, he has represented Russia at various youth levels, earning medals such as bronze at the 2014 IIHF World U20 Championship.
