Cale Fleury is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman born on November 19, 1998, in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, though often associated with Calgary where his family moved when he was young.
He currently plays for the Seattle Kraken in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Fleury shoots right and is known as a steady, defensive-minded blueliner with good skating ability and positional play.
Drafted 87th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, he has carved out a role primarily as a depth defenceman who can contribute in the AHL and provide NHL call-up reliability.
Siblings
Cale has one older brother, Haydn Fleury, who is also a professional defenceman in the NHL.
The brothers grew up playing minor hockey together in Carlyle before the family relocated to Calgary in 2002.
Haydn, selected in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, has played for several NHL teams and was reunited with Cale when both were selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.

Career
Fleury developed through the Western Hockey League (WHL) with teams like the Kootenay Ice and Regina Pats, where he showcased his defensive skills and some offensive upside.
After being drafted by Montreal, he turned pro and spent time with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL) before making his NHL debut with the Canadiens on October 3, 2019, against his brother Haydn’s Carolina Hurricanes.
He appeared in 41 games with Montreal in 2019-20 but saw limited NHL action afterward as he bounced between the NHL and AHL.
Selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 Expansion Draft, Fleury has primarily played for the Kraken and their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
He has accumulated modest NHL statistics over roughly 100 games, focusing on reliable defensive contributions, penalty killing, and occasional offensive support from the back end.
His career highlights strong AHL performances, including playoff contributions, and he signed a contract extension with Seattle in 2025.
Accolades
In the 2023-24 season, Fleury was recognized for recording the most points by a defenceman in the AHL playoffs.
