Police in Nyamira County are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a 25-year-old man was discovered abandoned in a forest within Matangi Village, Masaba North Sub-County.

The incident was reported on Sunday, police said adding at the scene, investigators found the body of Justine Ondieki Ogega, a 25-year-old male adult, lying in a supine position within the forest. Police noted visible injuries on the body, indicating possible assault.

Preliminary information provided by the victim’s mother, Elmenta Nyamuita, indicates that the deceased was a motorcycle rider operating in the Metamaywa area and was reported missing on June 13 at around 3:10 p.m.

Police processed and documented the scene before transferring the body to Gucha Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.

And police in Vihiga County have launched investigations into the death of a 52-year-old man who succumbed to injuries hours after he was allegedly assaulted by unknown attackers and abandoned near his home.

According to the report, the deceased, identified as Wickliff Shabaya, was allegedly attacked by unknown individuals on Friday evening at around 7 p.m. and left lying along a road near his residence.

A good Samaritan reportedly alerted the family, prompting his father to rush to the scene and take him home.

The victim had sustained injuries to his legs and was unable to walk. However, before he could receive further assistance, he succumbed to his injuries at around 11 p.m. the same night.

His body was later moved to Jumuia Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police officers from Cheptulu Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Hamisi visited the mortuary and examined the body.
