Police have launched investigations after the body of a man was discovered along the banks of River Nyando in Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County, under circumstances pointing to a suspected murder.

The incident was reported on Saturday by a local who alerted authorities after spotting the body behind Karanda Primary School.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of Tom Otieno Nunda lying on his back at the riverbank, partially submerged in the water.

Police established that the deceased’s legs had been tied together with a rope. The body had no lips or eyelids, while his clothes and shoes remained intact.

Crime scene personnel processed the area before the body was removed to Ahero County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible. No arrests have been announced.

Elsewhere, police in Busia County are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man whose body was found along a feeder road leading to Busia Sugar Factory.

The incident was reported by a local after he received information that a man was lying motionless by the roadside.

Police officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Dennis Ouma Obala, 45.

Preliminary investigations established that the deceased was last seen alive at around 10 p.m. on Friday while taking local brew approximately 200 metres from where his body was later discovered.

A physical examination revealed no visible injuries on the body, which was also found barefoot, leaving investigators to await a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Crime scene officers documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to Busia County Referral Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

And police in Kilifi County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 68-year-old man whose body was discovered under a mango tree in Tezo.

The body of Hamisi Hamadi Ali was found on Saturday at Kwa Munga Village in Tezo Location, Kilifi North Sub-county.

The deceased was found lying on his back with a black jumper tied around his neck. Police observed visible bruises on his face, hands and legs, while blood was oozing from his head, suggesting he may have been assaulted before his death.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Kilifi County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have opened a murder investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible. No arrests have been reported so far.
