Police in Dagoretti, Nairobi launched investigations into the murder of a 21-year-old man whose body was found outside his rented house on Thursday morning.
According to the police, the incident was reported by a man who identified the deceased as his nephew, Emmanuel Andete.
The deceased, who lived in the Upper Lypeak area within Dagoretti Sub-County, was found lying dead outside his residence under circumstances that police are treating as murder.
Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed the death. Preliminary examinations revealed that the victim had sustained several cut wounds on his left leg and a deep cut to the head.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Dagoretti processed and documented the scene as detectives began inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing and possible motives.
The body was later moved to the Kikuyu PCEA Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
No arrests had been made by the time of filing this report, and police said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
Elsewhere, detectives launched investigations into the death of a woman who was found unresponsive in her house in Githurai 44, with her husband being detained to assist detectives.
According to the police, the incident was reported by the husband who told police that his wife, Pamela Gatakaa, returned home on Wednesday at about 8 a.m. and appeared intoxicated before lying down on the floor of their single-room house and falling asleep.
He said that later that night, at around 10 p.m., he and the couple’s seven-year-old daughter, Angela Gatugi, attempted to wake her up but she did not respond.
The matter was reported to the authorities on Thursday morning, prompting officers to visit the residence.
Police said they found the woman’s body lying inside the single-room house. Preliminary observations revealed slight injuries on her legs, though the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death.
As investigations continue, police have placed the deceased’s husband in custody to assist with inquiries.
Authorities said no conclusion has been reached regarding the cause of death pending further investigations and the outcome of the postmortem examination.
