Police launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a man during a violent confrontation linked to an alleged love triangle in Nairobi’s Gatwekera area, Kibera slum.

The incident was reported on Monday morning after residents witnessed a middle-aged man, later identified as Geoffrey Ochieng Asembo, running from a neighbouring plot while bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the stomach.

Witnesses told police that another man chased the victim with the apparent intention of assaulting him further before fleeing after Asembo collapsed.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two men were involved in a love triangle with a woman. Police believe the confrontation erupted at the woman’s house after the suspect allegedly found her in the company of the deceased.

Investigators say the suspect is alleged to have attacked Asembo during the ensuing fight, stabbing him in the stomach before escaping.

Police officers who visited the scene found Asembo’s body lying on a footpath deep inside Gatwekera with a visible stab wound and bloodstains. Blood trails led from the scene to the woman’s house, where officers found a partially broken door, scattered household items and a broken stick, indicating that a fierce struggle had taken place.

The suspected murder weapon was not recovered.

Scenes of Crime personnel from the Nairobi Region processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations are ongoing and efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are continuing.

And police in Busia County have launched a manhunt for a woman suspected of killing her husband following a domestic dispute in Teso North Sub-County.

The incident occurred at Komolo Village.

According to police, officers from Moding Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene after receiving a report of the incident at about 2:40 a.m. on Monday.

They found the lifeless body of 66-year-old Chemei Andiema lying outside his house in a pool of blood. The deceased had sustained a deep cut to the back of the head.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Andiema had been involved in a domestic quarrel with his wife, at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical fight.

Police said the woman fled the scene after the incident and is the prime suspect in the murder.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Kocholia Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations are ongoing, while efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are underway.
