    Early Life

Daniel Baldwin was born on October 5, 1960, in Massapequa, New York.

His father, Alexander Baldwin Jr., was a high school teacher and football coach, while his mother, Carol M. Baldwin, became known for her work in breast cancer awareness and founded the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Daniel was raised in a Catholic household alongside his five siblings.

His brothers are Alec Baldwin, William Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin. All four brothers eventually pursued careers in acting and became recognizable figures in the entertainment industry.

    Early Acting Career

Baldwin began his professional acting career in 1988 when he appeared in the television film “Too Good to Be True.”

He subsequently landed roles in films including “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man” and “Hero.”

In 1990, he joined the cast of the short-lived television sitcom “Sydney,” which starred Valerie Bertinelli.

His career gained greater momentum during the early 1990s as he moved between television and feature films.

    Homicide: Life on the Street

Daniel Baldwin’s biggest acting breakthrough came in 1993, when he was cast as Detective Beau Felton on NBC’s crime drama “Homicide: Life on the Street.”

The series followed detectives working in Baltimore and became one of the most respected crime dramas of its era.

Baldwin remained with the series for three seasons. His performance as Felton became his most critically acclaimed television role.

However, Baldwin left the series after contract negotiations broke down. His character was subsequently killed off in 1995.

The show continued for another four seasons after Baldwin’s departure and ultimately produced 122 episodes.

Baldwin later reprised the role of Beau Felton in “Homicide: The Movie,” which aired in 2000.

    Film and Television Career

Following his departure from “Homicide: Life on the Street,” Baldwin continued appearing in television films and feature productions.

His credits during the 1990s included “Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman,” “Family of Cops,” “Twisted Desire,” “Mulholland Falls” and “Trees Lounge.”

He also appeared in the BBC One production “Kings and Pharaohs,” playing the character Menelaus.

During the 2000s, Baldwin increasingly focused on television productions.

He appeared in “The Sopranos” and television projects including “Anonymous Rex,” “Our Father” and “Sidekick.”

In 2008, he played Julius Krug in the HBO film “Grey Gardens.”

Based on the acclaimed 1975 documentary of the same name, “Grey Gardens” received significant critical recognition and several awards.

    Reality Television

Baldwin became increasingly visible on reality television during the 2000s and 2010s.

In 2005, he joined the cast of VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club,” where celebrities competed to improve their health and lose weight.

He later appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

Baldwin also became a commentator on truTV’s “The Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest…”

In 2009, he participated in “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”

He continued his reality television career in subsequent years.

In 2014, Baldwin appeared alongside his wife on “Celebrity Wife Swap.”

The following year, he entered the “Celebrity Big Brother: UK vs USA” house. He became the first contestant to be evicted from that edition of the program.

    Directing and Producing

Baldwin has also worked behind the camera as a producer and director.

One of his notable filmmaking projects was the 2014 movie “The Wisdom to Know the Difference,” which he wrote, directed and starred in.

The film received recognition at several film festivals, including the Burbank International Film Festival, Manhattan Film Festival and San Antonio Film Festival.

His work in front of and behind the camera has allowed him to maintain a presence in the entertainment industry beyond conventional acting roles.

He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Madrid International Film Festival for his performance in “Helen Alone.”

“The Wisdom to Know the Difference” also received multiple awards and recognitions at independent film festivals.

    Struggles With Addiction

Baldwin has publicly discussed his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction over the years.

In 1998, he was arrested for cocaine possession after an incident at New York City’s Plaza Hotel. He was subsequently sentenced to three months in drug rehabilitation.

He was arrested again in 2006 for possession of drug paraphernalia in Santa Monica, California.

Later that year, Baldwin was arrested after crashing his vehicle into two parked cars while reportedly traveling at a high speed. He suffered minor injuries.

In November 2006, he was arrested in connection with an alleged vehicle theft, although the charges were later dropped.

Baldwin later appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2007.

He had previously said that he had struggled with cocaine addiction since 1989.

Baldwin left the reality program after four episodes. He said at the time that his departure was related to acting commitments, although reports later attributed it to inappropriate communications with another participant.

His struggles with addiction have been a significant part of his public life and have also affected his career.

    Personal Life

Daniel Baldwin has been married several times and has children from different relationships.

He met his first wife, Cheryl, in 1978, and they married in 1984. The couple had a daughter, Kahlea Baldwin, the same year. They divorced in 1989.

Baldwin later married Elizabeth, with whom he had a daughter named Alexandra in 1994.

Following that marriage, Baldwin entered a relationship with actress Isabella Hofmann, whom he had met while working on “Homicide: Life on the Street.”

The couple had a son, Atticus, in 1997.

Baldwin later married former model Joanne Smith. The couple had two daughters, Avis Ann, born in January 2008, and Finley Rae, born in 2009.

The couple filed for divorce but later attempted to reconcile in 2011. They eventually filed for divorce again in 2012.

Following the divorce, Baldwin began dating Robin Hempel, and the couple announced their engagement in 2014.

Daniel Baldwin and the Baldwin Family

Daniel is part of one of America’s most recognizable acting families.

His younger brother Alec Baldwin became the most commercially successful of the four brothers, earning major film and television roles.

William Baldwin established himself through films such as “Backdraft” and “The Squid and the Whale,” while Stephen Baldwin became known for “The Usual Suspects,” reality television and faith-based entertainment.

Despite sharing the same family name, the brothers have followed different career paths.

Daniel’s career has been distinguished primarily by his television work, particularly his role on “Homicide: Life on the Street.”
