Police in Kilifi County have launched investigations after a 36-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and murdered at Mbuuni area of Sosoni Ndogo Centre in Magarini Sub-County.

Police said Neema Charo Nchengo was allegedly lured from a makeshift structure together with her three children before the children were tied to a tree.

The three children were aged 17, seven and five. They are all girls.

Police said the children were tied together to a tree while their mother was taken about five metres away, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted before being killed.

Police who visited the scene found Nchengo’s naked body lying in bushes. She had stab wounds above the umbilical area, on the left side of the chin and the right side of her head.

She also had several head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object. Preliminary observations indicated that she may have been sexually assaulted before the murder.

Detectives processed the scene and removed the body to Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known.

And police in Migori County have launched a manhunt for a man accused of fatally stabbing his elder brother following a disagreement over ancestral land.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at their home in Koduogo Village, Katieno II Sub-location, Uriri Sub-County.

Police said George Okinyi Okuna, 45, was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by his younger brother at around 10:30am following a disagreement over their ancestral land.

Okuna was rushed to Omboo Hospital in Migori County for treatment before being referred to Nyakina Level V Hospital in Kisii County for specialised care.

He succumbed to his injuries at around noon on Thursday while undergoing surgery, according to police.

The incident was reported to Uriri Police Station by the deceased’s younger brother, Paul Oliech Okuna, 30.

Police said the suspect fled after the incident and was still at large.

Detectives have launched investigations as efforts to trace and arrest the suspect continue. The case has been handed over to the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer in Uriri.
