Jaydev Dipakbhai Unadkat is an Indian professional cricketer born on 18 October 1991 in Porbandar, Gujarat.
A left-arm medium-pace bowler and right-handed batsman, he has represented India in Test, One-Day International, and Twenty20 International cricket.
He plays domestic cricket primarily for Saurashtra and has also featured for Sussex in English county cricket.
In the Indian Premier League he has turned out for multiple franchises, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Rising Pune Supergiant, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Known for his ability to swing the ball and maintain consistency on the domestic circuit, Unadkat rose to prominence after representing India at the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Siblings
Jaydev has one sibling, an elder sister named Dheera Unadkat.
In earlier years she was pursuing an MBA degree and has publicly expressed pride in her brother’s achievements.
The family, including their father Dipak Unadkat, a former principal of a government polytechnic, and mother, has remained closely involved in supporting Jaydev’s cricketing journey.

Career
Unadkat began his first-class career with Saurashtra and quickly earned recognition for his pace and control. He made his Test debut for India on 16 December 2010 against South Africa in Centurion at the age of 19.
He later debuted in ODIs against Zimbabwe in July 2013 and in T20Is against the same opposition in June 2016.
After limited early international opportunities, he established himself as a reliable domestic performer.
In the 2019–20 season he captained Saurashtra to their maiden Ranji Trophy title, becoming the first player to lead the side to the championship, and finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 67 dismissals.
He returned to the Indian Test side in December 2022 after a gap of twelve years and has continued to feature in domestic and county cricket, including stints with Sussex.
In the IPL he has delivered notable performances, among them a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick, while representing several teams across more than a decade.
Accolades
Unadkat’s most prominent team achievement is captaining Saurashtra to their first Ranji Trophy title in the 2019–20 season while also topping the wicket charts that year.
He has recorded multiple five-wicket hauls in first-class cricket, including career-best figures of 8 for 39, and has taken a hat-trick in the IPL.
His consistent domestic performances earned him a recall to the Indian Test team after more than a decade, and he has been part of successful IPL campaigns, including a runners-up finish with Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.
