Moi International Airport in Mombasa has earned continental recognition for passenger facilitation and operational readiness, securing three runner-up honours at the 2026 ACI Africa Passenger Facilitation & Readiness Excellence Awards.
The awards were presented during the Airports Council International Africa (ACI Africa) Conference Gala Dinner in Abuja, Nigeria.
The airport was recognised in the categories of Governance, Stakeholders Integration and Processes, competing among airports handling fewer than two million passengers annually.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said the three honours recognised the leadership, partnerships and operational practices supporting passenger services at the airport.
The awards are organised by ACI Africa and involve a jury evaluation of airport submissions across defined areas of passenger facilitation and operational readiness.
Recognition is organised according to annual passenger traffic bands, allowing airports to compete against facilities of comparable size.
KAA said the Governance category recognises clear leadership, defined responsibilities and effective oversight in airport operations.
The Stakeholders Integration category focuses on coordination among airlines, government agencies, ground handlers and other service providers involved in passenger facilitation.
The Processes category recognises well-designed passenger journeys, effective procedures and continuous improvement in service delivery.
“For us, these achievements reflect the collective effort of the Moi International Airport team and its partners. Their work connects the many services involved in airport operations to deliver a smoother experience for passengers,” KAA said.
The authority congratulated the airport’s staff and stakeholders for the recognition and thanked passengers for their continued trust.
