EACC detectives on Saturday arrested Parklands MCA Jahendra Malde for demanding a Sh5.7 million bribe from Concord Hotel owner.
The bribe was meant to hep stop the demolition of the multi million shilling hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands area.
The hotel is apparently sitting on riparian land.
‘”This was as an inducement to prevail upon the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko not to order the demolition of the Hotel on riparian land,” EACC tweeted.
The sleuths say that the bribe was to be shared with 19 other MCAs who are members Nairobi County Assembly Legal Committee.
The dishonorable member of the county assembly will be charged in court next week.
On Monday night businessman Praful Kumar was apprehended by the EACC detectives as he attempted to bribe Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at his Kilifi Home with Sh1 million.
The tycoon was allegedly trying to stop the county government from bringing down his property.
