    Kenya To Retain Duty Free Access To UK Market Even After Brexit – Theresa May

    The United Kingdom Prime Minister Teresa May is in Kenya to strengthen ties between Kenya and the UK post Brexit.

    She said that her mission in Kenya was to primarily renew partnership and establish strong foundation between the two countries. She made a promise thatthe UK would alignin itself to investment, sharing their expertise and alsogive funds to ensure that the Big four Agenda linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy.

    Ms May said that they have signed a new pact to ensure Security in Kenya and the East African community. The Prime Minister said that she had a new package for funding toward AMISOM.

    She said that the UK stands with Kenya in the fight against corruption and have signed a agreement to ensure that proceeds from corruption that end up in the United Kingdom will be returned to Kenya.

    In relation to Kenya ‘s  bid for a position in the United Nations Security Council for non permanent membership, Teresa May said that the UK has received Kenya’s request bust cannot reveal how it votes in such instances.

    She also said that Kenya would retain Duty Free, quota free  and access to the UK market even after Brexit which takes effect in March of 2019.

    President Uhuru said that  Kenya will not dwell in the past where UK stayed 20 years without coming to Kenya but will dwell in future partnerships.
