    Police Dismiss Report By KNCHR Accusing Them Of Sexual Assault During 2017 Poll

    Police have refuted claims by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) that people were sexually assaulted by them during the 2017 general elections .

    They said that no complaint had been forwarded to any investigative body of anyone that  was sexually assaulted by police during the general elections.

    The police have asked that any one who was sexually assaulted should report to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for a further probe.

    The report showed that 55% of the sexual assault that was committed to victims happened in the hands of police and other security organs. The report states that 96% of the victims were women while 3% were men.  The types of sexual assault included defilement, attempted defilement, indecent acts and sexual assault.

    About 201 victims stories were highlighted in the report that was released today. It indicated that a large number of the victims cae from low income areas such as Uthiru, Kibera, Kawangware, Baba Dogo, Mathare and Ngomongo in Nairobi.   The sexual assault cases were also rampant in Migori, Kakamega, Homa Bay, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Uasin Gishu and Machakos George Morara the Deputy Chairperson said during the launch
