Former Kakamega Homeboyz coach Paul Nkata has vehemently refuted matching fixing allegations against him and offered to appear before any inquiry to clear his name.

Nkata was implicated in the vice by the club’s president Cleophas Shimanyula, who sensationally claimed that after internal probe, they found out that the Ugandan paid certain players to intentionally throw away games.

The former Tusker FC coach also fielded poorly, leaving out his key players in some matches so as to lose, according to Shimanyula who is yet to provide evidence to his accusations as demanded by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

But speaking for the first since he left the country a few weeks back without notice amidst the serious claims, the ex-Bandari coach declared his innocence.

“I have never been involved in such acts (match fixing) ever since I joined football,” Nkata told Kawowo Sports. “I know the coaching guidelines and integrity as a person is important,” he added.

Put to task why he went AWOL, the former Uganda international said, “When Kenyans start something, you give them space and it’s what I did. After their investigations, they will know and maybe recall us for work.”

“When I read that they had parted with me, I had to leave even before I got my sacking letter. Let them go on with their investigation because am innocent and the truth will come out.

“I never hid. My phones are on, am on social media. If phones are off, that could be true but my phones are off. And I tied even calling the Technical Director, my immediate boss at the club.

Asked whether he could avail himself to defend himself before the investigators, Nkata said he is available.

“I am ready to face the commission of inquiry if instituted to prove my innocence.

Nkata is not ruling out a return to the country where he has now coached five Kenyan Premier League sides.

“A coach is like a teacher, when I get another job in Kenya, I will go back and coach.”

FKF has asked Shimanyula to fill them up with evidence to his claims failure to which they will not hesitate to punish him for soiling the name of the game.
