President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Twitter and Facebook accounts have suddenly been deactivated on Friday morning.

Kahawa Tungu learnt that the President’s accounts were deactivated shortly after he posted a tweet on corruption.

Speaking on the deactivation, Chief of Staff Office of The President , Nzioka Waitu mentioned that the President’s accounts have temporarily suspended and necessary remedial measures are being undertaken.

Nzioka mentioned: “On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta .

“All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken,” the Chief of Staff added.

In a video shared by the President’s press, the “political ally” part was edited out, which was seen by many as insinuating to Deputy President William Ruto.

Waita would later tweet saying that “the President’s stand on corruption has generated all manner of reactions”, a suggestion that the original tweet was from the President and his account was not hacked as suggested.

It is thought that the tweet could have caused major disagreements with top Jubilee politicians, the reason it was pulled down and ‘hacking’ allegations made as a cover-up.
