A security officer attached to the Senate has been arrested and taken the Central Police Station in Nairobi after he is alleged to have sexually assaulted a student at the University of Nairobi.

“This man met me in town. He called me and when I approached, he identified himself as a police officer. He told me that I am under arrest for roaming in town with an intention to commit a crime. I told him that I am a student but he would not listen to me,” said the student.

The officer arrested the student outside his area of operation. His areas of jurisdiction include the main parliament buildings, Protection House, Continental House, Harambee Sacco Plaza and County Hall.

Despite making reports on the same day, the police were reluctant to take action and it took them four days to arrest the officer, who is said to be well connected in the security circles.
