Five Kenya Defense Forces ( KDF) soldiers on Tuesday night engaged into a fist fight at Lang’ata Police station as they sought the release of their colleague.

According to reports, the officer had been arrested over assault allegations.

Speaking on the night drama, Nairobi Regional Commander Phillip Ndolo noted that the arrested officer was nabbed after assaulting a traffic officer along Kitengela Road.

In a statement drafted after the incident, it is noted that the KDF soldier, “wrestled him to the ground claiming the (traffic police) was blocking the road.”

Ndolo later noted that the officer’s colleague later stormed the police station where he was being detained, demanding for his immediate release.

However, their confrontation did not go down well with the officers at the Lang’ata Police Station, leading to the fight.

Ndolo revealed that the officers at the station remained adamant on releasing the KDF officer leading to the confrontation.

According to reports, upon realizing that they were not getting their way, one of them shot in the air raising alarm.

“The soldiers most probably had been drinking and they did not appreciate what our officers were trying to do. As a result, there was a scuffle, but we handed them over to the military which will deal with them in their own way,” Ndolo concluded.
