Police have arrested two twelve Nepalese women during a sex trafficking swoop carried out in Nyali, Mombasa County.

The suspects were nabbed in a raid operation carried out at New Rangeela Bar and Restaurant in Nyali.

Speaking on the arrests, the police noted that their operation was targeting an international sex trafficking syndicate.

The raid which took place on Saturday morning also saw the arrest of the club owner.

According to the police, Asif Amirali Alibhai JeJatha had a Canadian passport which the detectives affirmed that was not his nationality.

Coast region Deputy Police Commandant Joseph Chebii described his operation as successful.

Officer Chebii noted: “We have been following this for the past two weeks. After questioning the 12 girls, police discovered they sneaked into the country through Lunga-Lunga border but it is yet to be established how they managed to reach Kenya from Nepal.”

This is among several operations being carried out by the police in the coastal region that has led to the arrests of many sex and human trafficking suspects.
