Detectives from the Flying Squad unit have arrested six people in connection to 50 kilograms of fake gold busted at Yaya Centre in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Kilimani OCPD Michael Muchiri  has confirmed the Monday incident.

Last month, another bunch of suspected fake gold was recovered in a safe box at Queens Way Barclays branch, Nairobi.

Eric Adede, the owner of the safe box containing Sh2 billion suspected fake currency, has since been charged along side four other suspects.

The other suspects were identified as Mohamed Ejaz alias Shah, Mary Wanjiru Mwangi alias Elizabeth Muthoni and Irene Wairimu Kimani.

They were charged with conspiracy to defraud and being in possession of papers intended to resemble and pass as currency notes, and being in possession of mineral.

The five denied charges leveled against them and were released on bail.
