President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday failed to show up at the fourth annual Legislative Summit in Kisumu.

The Head of State, who was expected to open the event, neither showed up nor did he send a representative to read his speech.

With more than 4,000 delegates attending the summit, their was no explanation whatsoever on why President Kenyatta skipped the event.

Uhuru was expected to give a keynote address as well as award the national honors to county assembly speakers.

Additionally, the Commander-in-chief was scheduled to launch the global champion for youth agenda.

His absence from the event has sparked disappointment from the legislators who are gathering at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel from April 15 to 18.

According to reports, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena could not confirm the President’s tour by Sunday evening.

Deputy President William Ruto and AU Special Envoy for Infrastructure Raila Odinga are expected to attend the event.

Raila is scheduled to deliver his speech on Tuesday, while the DP will close the event on Wednesday.

President Kenyatta has however notably toured the Nyanza region twice in six months following the famous handshake with Mr Odinga.
