Muhoroni Town residents are planning a second demonstration against Agro Chemicals And Food Company Limited Human Resource Manager Mr Moses Kolum on Wednesday over alleged tribalism.

The residents are irked that Kolum has been openly favoring his tribe when it comes to employment at the company situated at the heart of Kisumu County.

They also claim that Kolum, who hails from Nandi County, has grown increasingly arrogant and no longer even employs locals as casuals.

“He’s importing everybody from his village and employing them at Agro while we have our own qualified youths doing nothing here,” said one resident.

In the recent recruitment by the company late last year and early this year, more of his tribesmen were employed more than any other tribe.

According to some quarters, Mr Kolum, who claims to be untouchable, is angling to join politics come 2022 and is using the jobs to endear himself to his would be voters.

Under his leadership, Agro Chemical Football Club was disbanded two years ago. The club provided employment to talented local youths.

Kolum is also being accused of favoring his kinsmen when it comes to promotion and allocation of company houses to employees.

Following the planned demo, which has the blessings of the local political leadership, security has been beefed in and around the company with two policemen manning the gates currently.

Last week there was a similar demo at the company but the organizers have promised a bigger one on Wednesday.
