    Machariah Njeru Triumphs Over Professor Ojienda For JSC Seat

    The former Independent Policing Oversight Authority chairman Machariah Njeru trounced Professor Tom Ojienda to clinch the seat of the Law Society of Kenya male representative to the Judicial Service Commission.

    Machariah who was known as the silent candidate garnered 2,738 votes over Ojienda’s 2,545 votes in a tightly contested elections. The other candidates in the contest were Mr Irungu Gathi who got  six votes. Mr Ongoto Mongare who had stepped down a day before the race  managed 123.

    Ojienda was the immediate former representative to the JSC and based hi campaign on fighting for the Independence of the Judiciary.

    The Commission oversees the appointment of judges and reviews petitions against judges.
