Algeria’s Ligue 1 side USM Alger are quietly camping in Kenya ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup Group D match away to Rayon Sports of Rwanda later this month.

The coach Thierry Frodger’s side arrived in the country on Sunday via Doha, Qatar and will be putting up at the Intercontinental Hotel for the next ten days.

“The team will benefit from Nairobi’s climate, which is similar to that of Kigali (1700 meters above sea level),” a statement from the club read.

Before switching to Kenya, the Reds and Blacks were in Tunis, Tunisia for preseason camp.

The team will leave for Kigali on Monday next week for the match scheduled for Wednesday at Kigali Stadium.

North African clubs are among the better run in the continent and are known to splash out to give their teams quality preparations ahead of major championships.

USMA’s stay is therefore a plus for the most talked about sports tourism and is expected to benefit the economy.
