Alkaline Siblings: All About Kereena and Kimona Bartley

Earlan Bartley, better known by his stage name Alkaline, is a prominent Jamaican dancehall and reggae musician from Kingston, Jamaica.

Born on December 19, 1993, to parents Charmaine Watt and Earl Bartley, he emerged as one of the leading voices in contemporary dancehall.

Often referred to with monikers such as Young Lawd, Vendetta, Boss, and ManHimself, Alkaline is recognized for his distinctive vocal style, bold lyrics, unique fashion sense, and energetic performances that have captivated fans across the Caribbean and beyond.

He grew up in a typical family environment in the Sandy Park community of St. Andrew and attended Ardenne High School

Siblings

Alkaline has two siblings.

Notably, his sister Kereena Beckford serves as his manager and has been instrumental in guiding his career.

She is also a producer behind events like the New Rules Festival and recently earned a Master’s degree in Entertainment, graduating as valedictorian.

Another sister, Kimona Bartley, is involved in management through New Era Productions.

Career

Alkaline began making waves in the dancehall scene around 2011, but his major breakthrough came in his late teens.

He gained widespread attention with hits that showcased his sharp lyricism and innovative approach to the genre.

His debut studio album, New Level Unlocked, released in 2016, marked a pivotal moment, debuting at number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and spending 18 consecutive weeks on the chart.

The project featured popular tracks like “Champion Boy,” “Conquer the World,” and others that highlighted his versatility.

Throughout his career, Alkaline has released consistent hits, including “On Fleek (Love Yuh Everything),” “Afterall,” “City,” and later projects such as the EP The Ripple EFFX and his sophomore album Top Prize, which also debuted strongly on iTunes Reggae charts.

He has built a dedicated following through high-energy stage shows, clashes where he has held his own against established artists, and an independent approach that emphasizes self-management and autonomy.

Under the guidance of his management team, including his sisters, he has toured internationally, sold out major venues, and positioned himself as a key figure propelling dancehall forward for a new generation.

Alkaline has also pursued education, studying Media and Communication at the University of the West Indies while balancing his music commitments.

Accolades

In 2018, Alkaline won Best Song for “Afterall” and Best Male Dancehall Artist at the International Reggae and World Music Awards.

He has also secured victories at the Hapilos Digital Music Awards, including Song of the Year for “On Fleek,” Most Streamed Artist, Most Downloaded Artist, and Most Streamed Single.

His EP The Ripple EFFX earned him Best EP and EP of the Year (Dancehall) at the Caribbean Music Awards.

Beyond music-specific honors, Alkaline received an official citation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for his contributions to Jamaican music and global influence in dancehall.

He has been celebrated as the youngest dancehall artist to sell out the Barclays Center in New York, a milestone that drew praise from legends like Shabba Ranks.
