Andrea Pereira Cejudo is a Spanish professional footballer born on 19 September 1993 in Barcelona, Spain.
She has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since her teenage years, a condition she has managed while maintaining an elite-level career.
Outside of football, she holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and has pursued studies in Law.
Pereira has represented Spain at youth and senior levels, earning more than 40 senior caps between 2016 and 2022.
As of 2026, she competes in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil with UNAM (Pumas), having previously played for several top Spanish and Mexican clubs.
Siblings
Andrea has one known sibling, a younger brother named Gonzalo Pereira Cejudo, born on 14 February 1997 in Barcelona.
Like his sister, Gonzalo is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back.
Andrea started kicking a ball with their father from a very young age, while Gonzalo, who was about two years old when she began organised play, often joined her.
Andrea initially played on mixed boys’ teams at school because girls’ teams were not widely available before transitioning to girls’ football.
While Andrea reached the highest levels of women’s football in Spain and Mexico, Gonzalo has built a career mainly in Spain’s lower professional and semi-professional divisions.
Career
Pereira began her organised football journey in the youth ranks of RCD Espanyol. She made her senior debut with Espanyol B around 2009 and progressed to the first team in 2011.

She remained with the club until 2016 and served as captain in her final season there.
In 2016, Pereira moved to Atlético Madrid, where she spent two seasons and established herself as a reliable defender.
In 2018, she joined FC Barcelona, spending four successful seasons with the Catalan club and contributing to multiple domestic and European titles.
After leaving Barcelona in 2022, Pereira relocated to Mexico. She first signed with Club América, where she played from 2022 to 2024.
She then joined Pachuca, representing the club from 2024 to 2026.
In 2026, she moved to UNAM. Throughout her career, she has been noted for strong positioning, composure on the ball, and the ability to play with both feet.
Internationally, she debuted for the Spain senior team in 2016 and accumulated 42 caps. She also featured for the Catalonia representative side.
Pereira was part of the group of players known as “Las 15” who made themselves unavailable for national team selection in 2022 amid concerns over the coaching staff.
Accolades
With Espanyol, Pereira won the Copa de la Reina in 2012 and the Copa Catalunya in 2013.
At Atlético Madrid, she claimed the Primera División titles in 2016–17 and 2017–18. Her time at Barcelona brought three consecutive Primera División titles in 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2021–22.
She also won the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2020–21.
Her Barcelona honours included two Supercopa de España Femenina titles in 2019–20 and 2021–22, as well as Copa de la Reina successes.
In Mexico, she won the Liga MX Femenil Clausura with Club América in 2023.
At international level, she contributed to Spain’s victories in the Algarve Cup in 2017 and the Cyprus Women’s Cup in 2018.
