    Anne Sinclair Family Wealth

Anne Sinclair is the granddaughter of Paul Rosenberg, one of the most influential art dealers of the 20th century. Rosenberg, who was close friends with Pablo Picasso, represented some of the most iconic artists in history, including Picasso, Matisse, Renoir, Degas, and Seurat. Through exclusive arrangements with these artists, Rosenberg amassed a priceless private collection.

Upon his death in 1959, Paul Rosenberg’s vast collection was passed down to his son Alexandre Rosenberg. Following Alexandre’s death in 1987, the artworks were inherited by his sister, Micheline, Anne Sinclair’s mother. When Micheline passed away in 2007, Sinclair took control of the family collection, which today is valued between $200 million and $500 million. Over the years, the family has sold some of these masterpieces, including a Monet for $20 million, a Matisse for $33 million, and a Léger for $22.4 million.

    Early Life

Anne Sinclair, born Anne-Élise Schwartz on July 15, 1948, in New York City, returned to France with her family during her childhood. She later adopted her maternal grandmother’s surname, Sinclair, as her professional name. Sinclair studied at the prestigious Paris Institute of Political Studies and the University of Paris, laying the academic groundwork for her future in journalism.

    Career in Media

Anne Sinclair began her journalism career at Europe 1 radio station, quickly earning a reputation for her incisive political interviews. In 1984, she transitioned to television, becoming the anchor of “7/7” on TF1. For thirteen years, Sinclair captivated French audiences with her insightful interviews of global political, economic, and cultural leaders, including Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nicolas Sarkozy, Prince Charles, Madonna, and Paul McCartney. Her excellence in journalism earned her three Sept d’Or awards, the French equivalent of the Emmys.

In 1997, Sinclair stepped down from “7/7” to avoid conflicts of interest after her then-husband, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was appointed France’s Finance Minister. She continued her career by managing TF1’s internet subsidiary and later launched her own radio show, Libre Cours, on France Inter. Sinclair authored two best-selling political books and launched a popular blog, Two or Three Things from America, in 2008. She also covered the 2008 U.S. presidential election for French media.

Following her move to the United States in 2008 when Strauss-Kahn became Managing Director of the IMF, Sinclair briefly stepped back from journalism. However, she returned to France in 2012 and relaunched her career by spearheading the French edition of The Huffington Post.

    Personal Life

Anne Sinclair’s marriage to Dominique Strauss-Kahn thrust her into international headlines in 2011 when Strauss-Kahn was arrested in New York on sexual assault charges. Although the criminal case was eventually dismissed, the scandal ended Strauss-Kahn’s political career. Sinclair stood by him initially but ultimately filed for divorce in 2012.

While married, Sinclair and Strauss-Kahn maintained significant real estate assets, including a $4 million residence in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood and two luxurious apartments in Paris worth a combined $10 million—all registered under Sinclair’s name.
